Dosage and Administration
The typical dosage and administration of Fosamax 70mg for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at risk of fractures are as follows:
Dosage:
- The recommended dose one 70mg tablet taken orally once weekly.
Administration:
- Take Fosamax 70mg in the morning, on an empty stomach.
- Take it with a full glass (6 to 8 ounces) of plain water only.
- Wait at least 30 minutes after taking Fosamax before consuming any food, beverages, or other medications, including vitamins and supplements.
- Do not lie down or recline for at least 30 minutes after taking Fosamax to prevent esophageal irritation and ensure proper absorption.
- Avoid chewing, crushing, or sucking on the tablet, as this may increase the risk of irritation to the throat and esophagus.
- If a dose missed, take it on the morning after remembering, and then return to the regular weekly schedule. Do not take two tablets on the same day.
